Imphal, December 07 2016:
The 22nd death anniversary of former Minister Moirangthem Ibotombi was held today at the Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Complex, Heirok.
Chief Minister O Ibobi, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Ministers, MLAs, the Chief Secretary and many high ranking officials attended the death anniversary function.
The Chief Minister led the gathering in offering floral tributes to the statue of M Ibotombi.
A contingent of NCC cadets too gave salute to the late Minister's statue.
Speaking at the gathering, Ibobi maintained that the observation of M Ibotombi's death anniversary is devoid of any political elements.

The death anniversary is in commemoration of a public leader.
Killing a man is an act of cowardice, Ibobi stated.
He also prayed that the killing of a man like M Ibotombi may never happen again.
The reason why Moirangthem Ibotombi was killed could not be ascertained till date.
Even if he had committed some faults, he should have been given a chance to rectify his follies, added the Chief Minister.
Human life is too short to be wasted in harbouring ill-feelings and hatred against fellow human beings, Ibobi continued.
Love and sense of brotherhood toward fellow human beings should be the basic principle of life.
Even if M Ibotombi was killed by some cowards, it would be wise to forgive them, added the Chief Minister.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam decried that a handful of people driven by myopic views and selfish motives have been conspiring to polarise the peace loving people of Manipur.
Each and every person born on earth has their goal of life and one should work to achieve the life's goal rather than time in hate-mongering.
Any economic blockade which has no time limit cannot be ever condoned.
The blockade sponsors would become fed up of their own nefarious act with the passage of time and they would fall and die in the pits dug by themselves, added the Deputy Chief Minister.
RD&PR Minister M Okendro said that the people of Heirok would continue to struggle collectively until peace is restored in the land but some elements have been scheming to ignite communal conflicts.
The Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Trust has been donating Rs 10,000 to cancer patients and the trust would start giving monthly pension to 700 aged persons who are not entitled to Government pensions, Okendro said. He also urged the Government to observe December 7 as 'Peace Day' every year.
