Ukhrul, January 22 2018:
The Naga People's Front (NPF) Ukhrul unit has demanded the immediate release of the 14th Finance Commission Developmental Fund for the hill districts of Manipur.
Addressing the media during a press conference held today at NPF Ukhrul division office Hamleikhong, the NPF Ukhulr priesdent Wungnaoshang demanded immediate release of the special financial package from Central Government's "grant in aid" scheme especially for the hill districts of Manipur.
Wungnaoshang stated that the Centre sanctioned Rs 143 crore for six MADCs of Manipur in October 2017, however the State Government is yet to release the fund and this is likely to lapse in case of the fund is withheld further.
A high level committee was constitued on November 23 last year by the Chief Secretary to monitor the situation, he said and added that the fund has to be utilized within 12 months and all utilization certificates have to be submitted in time.
In case the State Government fails to release the fund on time, it may lapse.
The slogan "Go to hills" should not be mere lip service, said the ADC leader and added that the BJP led Government under N Biren has to act accordingly.
In case the Government fails to release the fund immeidately, the NPF would initiate all democratic forms of agitation.
The NPF Ukhrul unit also warned all teaching staff working under UADC and ZEO Ukhrul to be at their respective place of posting and added that the culture of proxy teachers or engagement of substitute teachers would not be spared.
