NaRM-G Chandel demands immediate transfer of project officer

Chandel, January 22 2018:
A sit in protest was staged by Kanankhu Natural Resource Management groups (NaRM-G) Chandel against the unethical administration and mismanagement of NERCORMP, Chandel fund by its project manager, conveyed a press release issued by president of NaRM-G, Kanankhu village and chief of Kanankhu village.
As per financial norms of NERCORMP, the funds should be transferred to NaRM-G accounts and should be implemented by NaRM-G and beneficiaries, it stated.
However, 100 'Piggery Flattening Units' of NEC scheme was implemented by the project manager in contradicting to the implementation norms of NERCORMP and when the NaRM-Gs of Panchai and Kanankhu villages opposed the implementation by NERCORM, Chandel, their funds were withheld, it added.
The statement further added that the project manager had assured one Tongsin Willingson, member MDC, 12 DDC that the fund for Kanankhu will be deposited after the validation of households and further informed one Tongsin Beton that the said fund had been deposited to the respective bank account.
But NaRM-G claimed that it did not received any such funds.
After relaying the information to the project manager, she told Beton to wait till Christmas holiday and on January 11, she informed the NaRM-G members that NERCORMP, Shillong has not released the fund for Kanankhu, the statement further added.
Citing various reasons for the non-release of the fund, she told the Kanankhu NaRM-G leaders that the households in the village were not validated and the Ringwell was not implemented in Panchai village, it added.
The statement alleged that some funds for non validated villages were released despite her reasons.
It stated that the fund for Ringwells at other villages were released without completion while the fund for Kanankhu NaRM-G was withheld.
The NaRM-G Kanankhu village has demanded immediate transfer of NERCORMP, Chandel project manager in the interest of the people while cautioning that it would call for stringent agitation of their demand is no entertained.
