Radheshyam notes role of stakeholders in improving education sector

Teachers and Zonal Education Officers (ZEO) must take an active role to look into the shortages and essential requirements of the school and inform the concern authorities of the Education Department to make necessary changes at the earliest.
This was stated by Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam during his visit to Uyumpok Upper Primary School at Khundrakpam A/C .
He said that education is one of the top priorities of the Government it is the duty of the headmaster/headmaster in-charge to inform/provide report to the concern authority about the necessary requirements and needs of their respective schools and the students.
The Minister warned strict action against those officials who fail to carry out their responsibility.
The teaching, non-teaching staff and officials of Education Department belong to one big family and they have a big responsibility to bring a positive change in the field of education system.
All must work proactively to address the prevailing issues and problems ailing the education system, he maintained.
The Minister also expressed happiness on the increase in number of students enrolling in Uyumpok Upper Primary School from just ten students in last academic session to 119 students this year.
Asserting that the high enrolment of student is due to the hard work and dedication of the teachers and non-teaching staff, the Minister said that this year Government schools have witnessed high enrolment from 15/20 students to 200 students in some schools this year.
The school committees also have a huge responsibility towards the development of the schools, he added.
Briefing the media, Radheshyam said that officials of the Education Department have been visiting Government schools located both in the hills and plains of the State with an aim to improve the education sector.
Due to the relentless efforts from the stakeholders especially in rural areas, the enrolment in the Government school has seen a steady increase, he continued.
He opined that the Government schools are slowly regaining the trust of the people.
The Minister said that his visit to Uyumpok Upper Primary School was planned after he saw the plight of the school in local news arising due to inadequate infrastructure.
He appealed to the public to render their continuous support to the Government schools.
