Khadi production centres to be revamped

Kakching, January 22 2018:
Khadi and Village Industry Board Manipur Chairman as well as MLA Radhakishore stated that Khadi and Village Industry Board, Manipur under the directive of the State Government is giving emphasis on reviving Khadi products and its industry in the State.
Speaking to media persons during an inspection tour at Khadi Production Centre, Kakching, Radhakishore stated that the production centre is defunct due to change in trend and time, although the production and use of Khadi was quite popular before.
He stated that the Kakching Khadi production centre will be revamped and repaired so that it could continue it operation at the earliest.
The Chairman further stated the raw material for the centre will be fully sponsored by Khadi Commission, Mumbai, Government of India.
Considering the interest of people towards Khadi, the board along with the local MLA and the people will join hands and launch necessary steps to improve the centre and its products at large.
The sanctioned post for Khadi and Village insudtry Board is 63, however, the present number of staff is only 21 owing to retirement of the empoloyees.
Stating that the previous board members has neglected in reviving the Khadi production centres, Radheshyam assured to fill the vacant posts of different centres and to improve the infrastructures so that the Khadi prodyuction centres continue its functioning at the earliest.
