Will help Manipuri diaspora tracing history: AMUCO

AMUCO president Nando Luwang, Saturday, said that AMUCO will extend all possible help to Manipuri diaspora who visit the state to trace back the history of the state and their forefathers.
He was attending the memorial event of Khumukcham Atolchao, who is remembered for his driving skill when he drove a car brought to Manipur for the first time for the then king Churachand without any training or practice.
Leaders and members of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur, AMAWOVA, AMUCO and different organisations and visitors from Hojai attended the memorial event held at Thangjam Bon Mandir, Khagempalli Panthak.
Speaking on the occasion, Nando Luwang expressed that he feels emotional to see Manipuris settled in other states or countries visiting the state to trace their forefathers and history of Manipur.
Today, a delegation from Hojai under the aegis of United Manipuri Association, Assam, is visiting the state for the same.
Poirei Leimarol and AMAWOVA are providing assistance to the delegation, he said and assured all out assistance from AMUCO too.
Irengbam Rajen, one of the delegates from Hojai, said that they want to visit and understand their forefathers and history of Manipur even though they have settled in another state.
They are staying there like a refugee and they always hope for intervention from the Manipur government when they are deprived of their rights in their state, he added.
