Imphal, April 08 2022:
Members of DESAM reportedly came across massive malpractices by candidates and parents as well as wilful ignorance by invigilators in some exam centres during inspection visit at different examination centres of the ongoing High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLCE) 2022 conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM).
In a statement, DESAM informed that on Friday it deployed three teams to inspect exam centres and the first team visited Heirok High School and Heirok Higher Secondary School in Heirok, Thoubal district.
At both the centres, the DESAM team found photo copies of answer notes in the exact same order with the question paper.
In some of the notes, the team also found room numbers written.
The second team visited exam centres in Lilong area and found widespread use of unfair means by students at Crescent English School Lilong and Lilong Higher Secondary School.
The situation was also found in a chaotic state as a result of mass copying of answers.
The third team also came across widespread use of unfair means at Khangabok Higher Secondary School where parents were found providing notes to their children from near the toilet.
The examination rooms were also in a noisy condition.
They also found some malpractices at Wisdom Foundation Khangabok.
However, the situation was peaceful at Sangaiyumpham High School, the statement said.
In most of the exam centres where widespread malpractices were detected, the invigilators were found allowing candidates copying answers from the cheat notes.
DESAM strongly condemns such unbecoming conduct of the invigilators.
It is also unfortunate that some parents are providing cheat notes to their children from outside.
At the same time, having answer notes in exact same order with that of the question paper and room number written on them shows the degrading state of education in the state.
Moreover, candidates were allowed to use mobile phones inside the examination halls in some centres, the statement said.
It then urged all concerned to refrain from such activities in the future.
