Prayer fasting to unite Khangkhui villages held

While there may exist certain differences within a village or between villages, there is nothing that could not be resolved through understanding.
With this concept in view, Fraternity of East Eyes Line Society (FEELS) on Thursday organized a one-day Prayer Fasting programme at the Jubilee Community Hall of Khangkhui Phungthar village in northern Ukhrul.
Held with special prayers under the theme "Towards Oneness of Love," the spiritual programme concentrated upon a string of relevant topics aimed at resolving the differences besetting cordial relationship between Khangkhui Khullen and Khangkhui Phungthar villages over certain internal issues for years.
Exuding hope, FEELS chairman AC Johnson in his welcome speech, said that the motivation of his society in organizing the prayer fasting is to bring peace and unity between the two neighbouring villages of Khangkhui which are located about 18 km from Ukhrul District Headquarters.
"It takes prayerful supports of elders of the two villages to restore cordial relationship among the villagers" .
Speaking on the topic "Peace and unity in our society," Evangelist CM Joy of Harvest Team explained how American missionary Rev William Pettigrew brought hope among the Tangkhul in 1896 when the practice of headhunting was at its height between villages in the district.
He opined that the biggest liability of mankind today is his own transgressions, while adding that unless one submits to God and acquire his light peace would remain scare forever.
Joy then urged that both villages of Khangkhui observe a "repentance day" to overcome various hurdles and restore oneness among the villagers.
On the topic "Local resources and people relationship," HW Peter catechist Mary of Help Church Hunphun, expounded that mankind's obsession with natural resources has today affected relationship among the people.
He also called for sincerity in maintaining cordial relationship among the people.
Johnson Angkang Pro to 44 Ukhrul MLA and Titus Hungyo catechist St Andrew Church Phungreitang also spoke on the topics "History of Harva Khangai Kaphung" and "Love your neighbours as you love yourself" respectively.
Meanwhile, CM Joy led a special mass prayer for both villages of Khangkhui, while also invoking God's blessings upon the collective Naga leadership, Church leaders and social leaders of the district.
Pastors, catechists and elders from Churches of different denominations and social leaders from across the district attended the day long spiritual programme.
