Imphal, November 26 2015:
Over the years, revolutionary groups in Manipur have experienced ups and down since the launch of the ongoing liberation struggle, said the proscribed UNLF CC in its "Annual Statement 2015" .
In this context, issues related to "correct mass line, correct policy and true leadership" as remarked by China's Chairman Mao Zedong have now clearly emerged from experience.
If there are faults and weaknesses in the three areas mentioned, any revolutionary group will head for further deterioration in its movement, said UNLF.
UNLF stated that if the revolutionary group cannot build a relationship with the people, the revolution will also distance itself from the people and this phenomenon has also been experienced by the movements in the region, added UNLF.
Despite the existence of weakness and picking the incorrect path, Manipur has not been fully subdued by the oppressor due to the existence of the liberation struggle.
Moreover, the Government of India has also realized that Manipur cannot be kept oppressed and this is why, India has been trying to placate the unrest of the people by pumping in funds.
If there was no liberation struggle, India would not have even pumped in the money at all, pointed out the statement issued by UNLF's CC.
Now, the task for all revolutionary groups should be to pick the correct path with an aim to build a strong relationship with the mass.
Apart from this, the groups should also speak on behalf of the people without fear and not use their strength against the people but the enemy.
More importantly, the correct revolutionary path should be followed, said UNLF.
On the future of the liberation movement, UNLF stressed on the importance of continuing its armed movement.
For the same purpose, UNLF will establish fraternal relationships with revolutionary organisations representing the people and nations in Manipur and Western South East Asia (WESEA) .
UNLF will try to further understand the important principle of Manipur's liberation struggle.
While acknowledging the importance of armed struggle as a component of the movement, UNLF will also try to fight for the people reeling under severe economic hardship.
UNLF will try to go beyond the rubrics of Naga, Kuki and Meitei community boundaries who had been attempting to ameliorate their own societies within Indian rule so that the people can collectively achieve self-reliance and development.
UNLF reiterated that there is no other way than collective survival and one cannot opt for collective extinction.
No community of Manipur would independently survive under the shadow of Indian rule, asserted UNLF.
