Ukhrul, November 26 2015:
The NGOs of Ukhrul Fraternity of East Eyes Line Society (FEELS) today organized a one day prayer fasting for Khangkhui Phungthar villages, Ukhrul.
The FEELS invited Church leaders, social workers and other well wishers to resolve the internal crisis of Khangkhui village peacefully.
Khangkhui villagers who were gathered at the Jubilee Community Hall, thoroughly deliberated on conflict management and CM Joy urged the villagers to instrospect and reconcile so that peace and unity prevail because it is the will of God.
Chairman of FEELS AC Johnson said that the people are bestowed with immense natural resources and added that the place is an important historic village of Manipur because the first battle of World War II in India was fought here.
Despite the internal crisis the people should come together to promote and uphold the unique village, he added.
The village has more than 180 households but after the village assembly decided to socially boycott village headman Samatai in February this year, the people got divided.
All the participating villagers agreed on resolving the issue amicably.
During a brief interaction with youth member Mungvah on the sidelines of the programme, he said after it was decided to socially boycott village headman Samatai there emerged an internal crisis.
He appreciated the timely intervention of FEELS which prevented the situation from getting uglier.
Another villager Mayarngam said that the conflict and face off created more groupism among the people which derailed the development of the village.
He expressed confidence that today's decision will be positive for the villagers and the village.
