Chandel, November 25 2015:
Committee on Protection of Tribals Rights (CoPoTR), Chandel District on Tuesday conducted surprise inspection of Government Offices for the fourth time to ensure regular attendance of office by staff in the District Headquarters.
The committee members accompanied by its President Kohring Victor and Advisor Ts Beton Anal inspected the Autonomous District Council (ADC) office and the newly constructed quarters at Monsang Pantha.
During the inspection, the committee members found that the ministerial staff of the ADC attended the office except the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The members also inspected the ongoing construction of ADC Hall and quarters for the elected members.
Later, the CoPoTR members went to the Mini Secretariat complex and inspected the offices there.
Speaking on the sidelines of the inspection, CoPoTR President Kohring Victor stated that most of the department heads and staff were found attending their respective offices as compared to the earlier inspections.
However, it is unfortunate that some offices including Statistics, IFCD, Minor Irrigation, PWD, Horticulture and Adult Education department were found still locked during the inspection, he added.
Victor lamented that the field inspection has conducted "not against" any individuals but only to ensure regular attendance by office staff for the welfare of the people.
He appealed the employees and general public to cooperate and support to the initiative launched by CoPoTR.
Kohring Victor urged the responsible authority to inaugurate the newly constructed building of Council Hall and Quarters of ADC members at the earliest for smooth functioning of ADC in the District.
CoPoTR's Secretary Ng Joychandra stated that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Chandel ADC was not attending the office at Monsang Pantha since 2013 till date and he was found absent whenever the committee members visited his office.
The committee demanded the State Government to take befitting action against the CEO.
