To ensure regular attendance of office staff in the district headquarters, the committee on Protection of Tribals Rights (CoPoTR), Chandel paid a surprise visit to Government offices at the district headquarters for the fourth time today.
The committee members accompanied by president Kohring Victor and advisor Ts Beton Anal inspected the offices and newly constructed quarters of the Autonomous District Council (ADC) at Monsang Pantha.
During the visit, the committee members came across several ministerial staff of the council attending office except the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) .
The committee also inspected the newly constructed council hall, quarters of ADC members and the Mini Secretariat complex.
Speaking on the sideline of the drive, Kohring Victor, president, CoPoTR, said most of the departmental heads and staff were found attending their respective offices during the visit as compared to the earlier inspection.
However, some offices including Statistics, IFCD, Minor Irrigation, PWD, Horticulture and Adult Education department were found locked during the visit, he added.
He further maintained that the inspection was conducted not against any individuals but only to ensure regular attendance of office staff for the welfare of the people.

CoPoTR's secretary Ng Joychandra alleged that the Chief Executive Officer ( CEO ) of Chandel, ADC, has not been attending office since 2013 till date.
He said the CEO was never present everytime the committee member visited his office.
As such, the committee has appealed the State Government to take immediate action against the CEO or transfer him from the district.
While appealing all the heads of department including those who were found absent today to attend the office regularly, the committee's secretary warned that the committee will be compelled to launch intense form of agitation including bandh, mass protest in case the State Government fails to take up stringent action against the CEO and other irregular Heads of Department soon.
