Mt Everest Hr Sec School, Senapati celebrated its 'silver jubilee' with Chief Secretary O Nabakishore Singh gracing the grand occasion as the chief guest.
Making his maiden visit to the district after being appointed to the top job, the Chief Secretary was all praise for the school which was established in 1990 to become one of the best and largest education homes for thousands of students.
The 25 year celebration with its theme "Prospering in Wisdom" held at its chapel hall witnessed the gathering of a galaxy of elected members, civil bodies, Church leaders, village leaders, alumni, district level officers, politicians/public figures, former school headmasters and teachers, well-wishers and others.
Before the formal programme, the jubilee monolith was unveiled by the Chief Secretary with jubilee commemorative balloons released by Brigadier Jeetendra Ohri, Commander 59th Mtn Brig, Senapati.
Deputy Commissioner Jacintha Lazarus released the jubilee souvenir.
The jubilee celebration which also hosted a massive community feast to the dignitaries and guest also witnessed the gathering of MLA Dikho, MLA Victor Nunghlung, ADC Chairman ML Markson, ADC members from both Senapati and Kangpokpi, DC Jacintha Lazarus, SDOs, Brigadier Jeetendra Ohri, CEO Rang Peter, MCS, Assistant Commissioners, NPO, SDSA, SDWA, KSTC, SKAWWA, SKABU, student bodies, local bodies, missionaries, village chiefs/headmen, first Headmaster of the school and other dignitaries.
They were all felicitated by the president and emeritus Principal/founder Dr V Alexander Pao in the presence of his wife.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Secretary praised the commitment and emergence of Mt Everest Hr Sec School Senapati through its visionary pioneer Dr V Alexander Pao, who is also an MLA representing 47/Karong A/C.He lauded the holistic endeavor and efforts of the school to provide quality education to the children in the district.
Visibly impressed by both academic and active performance of the school students and discipline, the CS noted that, the spirituality of the institution is a source of example to many to take on any challenging work with prayers and faith in the divine's power.
He also stressed on the promotion of quality education and wished the school to prosper and excel ever more for the benefits of students and society.
Founder and educationist Dr Alexander Pao in his presidential speech recollected the origin and difficult days of establishing the school in 1990 when very less students were present and transport & communication was at its worst.
Today with over 1000 plus college students, 2500 school students enrolled and more than 20 hostels established, the institution is home to many.
Moderated by Rev Dr Thangchung Shekho, Sr Chaplain, the silver jubilee as administered by Rev S Shele Pastor, Phuba Thapham Baptist Church and the school jubilee choir echoed through the formal progamme with enchanting songs.
Apart from eye-catching presentations by young and senior students in different forms of entertainment, the alumnus also spoke on the occasion.
Invocation prayer was delivered by Apila Thangal, executive secretary, TNBA while the keynote address was delivered by the Principal Singmipam Pheirei, welcome address by Dr Thotreingam Jungva and greetings from Manipur Baptist Church, Imphal by its Pastor L Simon Raomai.
Vice Principal Gonmei Meithuanlungpou extended the vote of thanks to the congregation.
