House-to-house testing begins in Chandel, Kakching, Thoubal

As in other parts of the state, house-to-house testing was conducted in Chandel, Kakching and Thoubal districts on Saturday as a part of government's new intensive measure to contain the spread of Covid-19 infection.
On the first day of testing, Covid Testing Team of Chandel with support from the district police conducted carried out tests at three villages of the district.
In all, 13 members of seven families were tested in Chandel Christian village, seven of four in Hnatham village and five members of two families in Panchai village.
There were no positive cases, according to Chandel chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Serthani Serbum.
On the other hand, Kakching District Health Society and District Police carried out house to house testing at Chumnang Leikai and Hiyanglam Hiranmei.
A Covid Testing Team led by Kakching Covid Testing Centre in-charge Dr Pukhrambam Robin in collaboration with District Police, Chumnang Leikai ASHA and Anganwadi workers, United Youth Progressive Organisation (UN-YPO) volunteers and Covid Task Force carried out the test at Chumnang Leikai during which 162 people, two members from each family, and one positive case was detected.
The testing programme was also personally monitored by SP Victoria Yengkhom, additional SP (Ops) Kshetrimayum Manihar, additional SP (Law and Order) Yumnam Joyraj and district home isolation district nodal officer Dr Kshetrimayum Sumati.
Another Covid Testing Team led by Langmeidong Covid Testing Centre in-charge Dr Kiran Elangbam with the support of district police and others carried out house to house testing at Hiyanglam Hiranmei during which 41 people were tested and 13 of them were found positive.
Meanwhile, district administration of Thoubal, district police and District Health Society jointly conducted house to house testing at Wangjing Wangkhei and Wangjing Heituppokpi under Wangjing Tentha assembly constituency.
During the programme, 322 people of 143 families underwent testing, out of which 42 were found positive.
According to a report from district Covid-19 testing nodal officer Dr Illowar, 200 people were tested at Wangjing Wangkhei and 17 were found positive, 56 people tested at Wangjing Heituppokpi Soibam Leikai and 14 confirmed positive for Covid-19 while 67 tests were done at Okram Leikai and 11 were found positive.
