Imphal, January 29 2010:
Committee for Development of Tamenglong District (CDTD) has urged the state government to reinstate the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) at Tamenglong at the earliest time in the interest of justice.
A statement issued by the chairman of the committee, Thomas Kamei also demanded the authority concerned to depute competent persons with integrity antecedent as Judicial Officer for the district to facilitate timely disposal of judicial matters in order to instill confidence on the people of the judiciary system.
It asserted that justice, which is the most basic and vital ingredient for the existence of human being, is denied to the people of Tamenglong district for last so many years without any valid reason.
The absence of the court of CJM at Tamenglong has compelled the people of the district to incur heavy expense in traveling till Imphal even for simple judicial matters, it pointed out.
It further lamented the indifferent attitude of the government in setting up the court despite many pleas on the matter.
