The "Mongba-hanba" a fortnightly published news journal completed one year today.
The publication group celebrated the first anniversary of the journal with function at Manipur Press Club, Major Khul today.
Retired news editor of the All India Radio, Imphal, Seram Mangi who graced the function as Chief Guest observed that journalism in the state is advancing fast and is acting as eye opener of the society.
Even though there are many dailies newspapers, the number of fortnightly or weekly paper which could provide in depth report is very less in number, he said encouraging the publication group of Mongba-hanba.
He also wished for long continuation of the publication of the same.
While acknowledging the hardship faced by the journalists in discharging their duty in a conflict riddled state of Manipur, he said journalists are confronting these difficulties bravely.
The ruling government is not willing to pass on information to the media.
They do not take up steps to provide information of Cabinet meeting to the media.
They neglected media while providing the decision of the cabinet which would be of benefit to the people and they remembered them when they wanted to highlight their achievement, he said criticizing government attitude towards the newsmen.
Editor of Kangla Pao who presided over the function also observed that the government has always neglected the journalists who confront many problems and who go to the remotest corner of the state to collect information.
They treat journalists who pointed out the wrong deeds of the government like their enemy instead of thanking them for pointing out the mistake committed by them.
On the occasion, the group also presented gifts to 10 article contributors of Mongba-hanba and also released the anniversary publication of the fortnightly.
