Combined force strikes a blow to URF: Police

Imphal, January 16 2015 :
A combined team of district police commandos of Imphal East, district police of Senapati and 25 Assam Rifles has reportedly given a severe blow to the URF (Lanheiba faction) .
According to a statement issued by S Gautam Singh, PRO of State Police Department, on January 13, acting on a reliable information about the presence of self-styled chairman Lanheiba Meitei of URF (Lanheiba faction) along with his cades in the general area of Taphou Kuki village in Senapati district, the combined team conducted cordon and search operation in the said area.
The Police PRO further informed that during the search operation, one active cadre of URF, namely Thangjamuan (23) s/o Kaisuanlal Zou of Churachandpur district headquarters was arrested.
On his disclosure, one A1 Rifle loaded with 30 live rounds and one bag containing 204 live rounds of A1 ammunition were located and seized from the house of one Senthang Chongloi (67) s/o late Dormesh Rai of Lhanghoi Veng, Taphou Kuki Village.
On further investigation, another four cadres of armed outfit namely self-styled 2-IC Elangbam Surchandra (34) s/o E Nimai Singh of Pukhao Ahallup Makha Leikai, Imphal East, 'private' Thanglaldin (19) s/o Zamkhai Vaiphei of Churachandpur district headquarters, Satneo Singson (20) Yanga Singron of Churachandpur Tollen and Lamjahao Chongloi (21) s/o Latejang Chongloi of Tapho Kuki village were arrested on the same day from the house of Lamjahaoi Chongloi.
One AK 56 Rifle loaded with 30 rounds, one polythene bag containing 133 live rounds of AK 56 and one M16 Rifle with one magazine containing 14 live rounds were recovered and seized from the courtyard of one Janglal Chongloi (35) s/o Hentaqo Chongloi of Lhanghoi Veng Taphou Kuki village.
Accordingly, a case has been registered at Sekmai Police Station and investigation is going on.
It may be recalled here that refuting the police claim, Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) had already claimed that claimed that all the four individuals arrested by the combined force are not members of URF but its own.
