Imphal, January 16 2015 :
Four pregnant cows were electrocuted on Friday in Imphal East's Andro, which angered the local MLA and residents.
The incident happened at Moirang Purel Khunou Leikai when the four cows died after an electric shock caused by a High Tension (HT) line around 1:30 pm.
The HT wire was found falling loosely below the ground.
Andro constituency MLA Th Shyamkumar strongly reacted against the incident, saying the Power minister, Electricity Chief Engineer and several other officials were responsible for the death of the cattle.
"We'll seek legal help to get compensation," Shyamkumar said.
He noted seven people and a number of cattle have been killed after they were electrocuted due to faulty live wires in Andro a few years back.
The MLA alleged that the power minister was doing nothing despite repeated appeal over the incidents.
He urged the state Government to repair all the defected HT and Lower Tension (LT) lines in his constituency and threatened public agitation over the issue.
