Sit-in protest staged

Ukhrul, February 08 2015:
Villagers of Khunthak, Kasom Khunou and Tarong staged a sit-in protest at Khunthak village to condemn the bomb blast on Khuntak-Tarong road on February 5 which killed Addison Ningshen and caused severe injury to Hillary Keishing, according to a joint statement issued by Khunthak village headman and secretary of Ramsom Khunthak Village Authority.
A public meeting was also held during the sit-in protest.
Terming the incident as a barbaric act, villagers urged the organisation(s) involved not to repeat such activity which will disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the area.
The sit-in protest also demanded the State Government to compensate the family members of the deceased.
In the meantime, a separate statement issued by the president of Dardouy Katamnao Long (Nambashi Students' Union) Ukhrul district has also condemned the bomb blast and the shoot-out between two militant groups near the bomb blast site.
Stating that both the incidents had triggered fear among the people living in the area, the union urged the individual(s) or organisation(s) involved not to repeat such unwanted act.
Dardouy Katamnao Long also demanded the State Government to compensate the family of
the deceased.
