DGAR Equestrian meet concludes

The 12th DGAR State Equestrian Championship was declared closed by the chief guest Lt Gen RK Rana, SM, VSM, Director General, Assam Rifles on Sunday.
The edition of Director General Assam Rifles Cup, State Equestrian Championship-2015 was organised co-jointly by IGAR (South) and Manipur Equestrian Association at Imphal Polo Ground.
The General officer was welcomed in a traditional manner and presented with rosettes and shawls.
Maj Gen Rajeev Chopra, IGAR (South), Brig VT Mathew, Cdr, 9 Sector Assam Rifles along with Dr S Joykumar Singh, President of Manipur Equestrian Association were also present on the occasion to grace the event.

The overall team championship winners KNMM Riding Club and Chingkheihundba Polo Club collected the championship trophies along with Rs 10,000 each.
Meanwhile, Th Kaoba won the senior tent pegging short individual title followed by M Thomason and S Bimol in the second and the third place respectively.
The women show jumping title went to S Romabati of Imphal Riding Club.
RK Nilu and Th Tana of Chingkheihunba Club won the second and third places respectively.
Chingkheihunba Polo Club grabbed the title in the tent pegging learner's team event leaving KNMM Riding School and Imphal Riding Club in the second and third places respectively.
On the other hand, Manipur Sports Club was adjudged the best team in the march past parade competition followed by Chingkheihunba Polo Club.
Speaking on the occasion, Gen Rana said that the DGAR Cup State Equestrian Championship and IG AR(South) Junior Equestrian Championship is a radiant and eloquent testimony of the Assam Rifles enthusiastic zeal to encourage the strong sports culture of Manipur.
It is also an endeavour to save the rare breed of Manipuri pony from the brink of extinction", he added.
The whole ceremony was full of pomp and splendour but the cynosure of the ceremony were the tent pegging, cultural programme and the exhibition of Sagol Kangjei which received accolades from the gathering on their performances.
Altogether 14 teams participated in the competition.
