35th National Games: Sadananda, Sanatombi Chanu open gold account for Wushu

Moirangthem Sadananda logged 9.52 points to beat M Gyandash Singh (9.18) of Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) winning a gold medal while Madhya Pradesh's Umesh Kumar Yadav (8.11) settled for the bronze in the Taijiquan men event at the Lakshmibai National College for Physical Education Indoor Stadium here today.
Sadananda of Manipur opened the gold account for Wushu events of the 35th National Games 2015 .
In the last National Games held at Jharkhand, Moirangthem Sadananda earning 9.59 points beat M Gyandash Singh of Services Sports Control Board (8.76 points) and bagged clinched a gold medal .
In the taijiquan women event, Leimapokpam Sanatombi Chanu of Manipur scored 9.56 points and secured the second gold for State Wushu team.
K Rita Devi of Uttar Pradesh got 9.55 points and settled a silver medal while Sakshi Vaidya of Madhya Pradesh (7.56) got bronze.
Interestingly, M Gyandash Singh of SSCB and Kangjam Rita Devi of UP are from Manipur.
In women's football, State team entered the final after thrashing host Kerala by 3-0 today at Corporation Stadium at Thrissur.
Ngangom Bala Devi scored two goals in the 7th and 9th minute while Irom Prameshori Devi contributed one goal in the 50th minute.
State women's football team will meet defending champion Odisha on Tuesday in the final.
In boxing competition held at Indoor Stadium, Thrissur today, H Chaoba Devi of Manipur beat Avani Kalotra of Gujarat in light 60 kg women category and entered into the quarter final.
M Thomas Meetei of Manipur knocked out Gayat Kumar of Tripura in light welter 64 kg men category and L Bishorjit Singh downed Haresh Kupple of Andhra Pradesh in welter 60 kg men category.
Both pugilists also entered into the quarter final.
In the medal tally, Manipur ranked at the 8th position with 8 golds, 4 silver and 4 bronze.
Tomorrow, Soubam Santosh of Manipur will meet Dev Naik of Goa in light 60 kg men category of Boxing.
Punshiba Mayanglambam of Manipur will take part in the nanquan men event of Wushu and Sanglakpam Chaobi Devi in the nanquan women event.
