Now payment of VAT and registration through internet

Dealers and businessmen of zone I and II who have registered under the Department of Taxes will now be able to pay their Value Added Tax (VAT) and registration through the internet.
Nthe E-service facility which enables all Dealers to pay VAT and carry out all sorts of registration process through the internet was launched today at a function held at the Taxation office by the Sazad Hassan, Commissioner, Taxation and RK Khurkishwar, Nodal officer, VAT Computerisation today.
The programme has been taken up by the Department of Taxation, GoM under the Mission Mode Project of Commercial Tax (MNP-CT) .
Speaking on the occasion, RK Khurkishwar said that the VAT soft online system is developed by NIC Karnataka and is being formulated in the state of Manipur by the state Taxation department with the consultation of NIC Manipur and MS Wipro.
The VAT computerization works is a key governance initiative taken up under the National e-governance Plan by the Commercial Tax mission Mode Programme of the Central government.
Under this programme online verification of the dealers and online issuance of SCT Statutory forms, he said.
He further went on to say that the online system not only enables the dealers to pay tax online but also smoothen the administration system, increases the amount of tax payers and also smoothen the department's process.
He also said that the dealers and shopkeepers will not have to come all the way to the Income tax office for the payment of their tax.
They can now easily pay their tax through the internet.
They can also come and collect their user name and password from the Income Tax office.
They are also given the option of changing their password according to their convenience later on.
A customer care service is also made available for the shopkeepers.
