Imphal, October 06 2011:
All Manipur Offset Printers' Association has denounced the tender notification of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur inviting firms from outside for printing text books under SSA as a deliberate attempt to deprive the livelihood of all those people in Manipur who are running printing presses.
Talking to mediapersons in this connection at Manipur Press Club here today, Association president M Joykumar pointed out that for printing the text books under SSA, the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur issued a tender notice through its website and newspapers some days earlier.
The terms and conditions highlighted in the tender notice are beyond the compliance of any existing printing presses in Manipur including those which are doing the work of the Board for more than 10 years.
So, this is a deliberate attempt to give the contract work of issuing the SSA text books to the outside firms and deprive the livelihood of the native printing presses, Joykumar asserted.
Joykumar contended that the delay in bringing out the prescribed text books of the Board by the local printing firms is mainly due to failure of providing the work order in time.
Demanding withdrawal of the tender notice at once, Joykumar has warned that the Association may be compelled to take recourse to agitation against the Board if the demand is not considered.
The matter has been brought to the notice of Board chairman and the same would be taken up with other related authorities, he informed.
