Imphal, October 06 2011:
An Imphal-bound truck laden with FCI rice was set on fire by supporters of the UNC-sponsored counter economic blockade at a Rangkhong village in between Noney and Awangkhul along ImphalJiribam Road at around 6 pm today.
The ill-fated truck, with registration number MN06/0537 was among other 394 goods laden trucks being escorted by security forces from Jiribam.
While the rest reached Imphal safely, the truck carrying FCI rice broke down and stayed back.
After repairing, it was being escorted by Noney police when some unidentified armed persons overpowered it and set it on fire.
