Dwijamani killing: Govt concedes to JAC demands

Imphal, December 24 2012:
State government agreed to the 5 (five) point memorandum submitted jointly by JAC against the killing of Dwijamani and AMWJU on Monday.
Representatives of the JAC and AMWJU submitted the memorandum to Chief Minister, O Ibobi Singh at around 5 pm.
Following submission of the memorandum, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the two parties.
The MoU was signed by A Mobi, President of AMWJU; Jonish, Secretary of AMWJU; Y Rupachandra, Special Correspondent of Seven Sisters Post; Brojen Sinam, JAC Convenor; L Dillip, JAC Co-Convenor and representatives of State government.
According to the MoU, family members of (L) Dwijamani agreed to accept the body and thus autopsy would be conducted.
On the other hand, the State government agreed to take up necessary legal action against the police personnel involved in the killing and provide compensation to the bereaved family.
Moreover, Chief Minister also assured to provide the place for Dwijamani's memorial and to release all the arrested protestors without any conditions.
Ibobi also assured the representative of JAC and AMWJU that he would attend the floral tribute to be paid to Dwijamani at Press Club.
As per the MoU family member of (L) Dwijamani would register a FIR in connection with the incident.
