Imphal, December 24 2012:
Expressing deep concern over the attacks and intimidations of doctors and para medical staff of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, the Director of the institute has appealed to the bandh enforcers not to target the officials on duty.
In a statement issued to the press today, the Director said that in view of the situation arising out of the indefinite bandh, the ATC/Casualty has been opened 24 hours to deal with any emergency cases.
In total disregard of the measures taken up for the welfare of the people, bandh enforcers vandalised two ambulances of the institute on December 23 at about 8 pm even after identification, said the Director.
Such incidents hamper the free movement of doctors and paramedical staff to attend to emergencies, said the Director and urged all to desist from such activities.
If the harassments continue then JNIMS may be constrained to close down the emergency medical services on offer right now, it added.
