Imphal, December 24 2012:
Chairman of Film Forum Manipur L Surjakanta has clarified that the decision of 72-hour relaxation of Manipur Bandh was arrived at in consultation with various CSOs of the State in view of the Christmas festival.
The relaxation does not necessarily mean that the agitation has been called off completely.
Talking to mediapersons today, Surjakanta asserted that the decision to relax Manipur bandh was not the sole decision of Film Forum Manipur, it was the joint decision of AMUCO, UCM, HERICOUN, UPF, IPSA, UNAKSU, AMSU, KSA, NIPCO, ACOUP LUP, CLK, Manipur State Shumang Leela Council, AMIK and Film Forum Manipur.
Though the State Government invited a number of times for negotiation over the indefinite bandh, Film Forum Manipur and Manipur State Shumang Leela Council never conceded and stick to their stand and demand for arresting and giving befitting punishment to Livingstone, he added.
He also clarified that there has been no negotiation with the State Government and the allegation of Momoco that an amount of Rs 20 lakhs each has been taken by him, Ipu and Narendra Ningomba is completely baseless.
Surjakanta also demanded a clarification from Momoco on her allegations.
B Netrachandra, General Secretary of AMIK; Ph Gunachandra, President of Manipur Shumang Leela Council; Ipu and Narendra Ningomba were also present during the
press conference.
