Imphal, November 21 2021:
Wangkhei AC MLA Y Erabot has accused his predecessor and ex-minister O Henry of being uncivilized for blocking the womenfolk, who had come to participate in the Ningol Chakkouba programme organised by him (Erabot) at Chingmeirong Lei Ingkhol in Ward no.26 on Sunday.
Addressing a press conference at his residence on Sunday, Erabot informed that he had been organising Ningol Chakkouba programme for the women of Ward no 21, 22, 23 and 26 of Wangkhei AC from November 17 in a consecutive manner.
On Sunday, the programme was organised for the womenfolk or Ward no 26.However, when the clock struck 11 am, a group of people led by O Henry and his security prevented the women from attending the programme at Chingmeirong Lei Ingkhol.
Calling out Henry's act as uncivilized, Erabot said that he had been tolerant of the minor incidents in the past.
However, Henry and his security's action, including snatching the mobile phones of the women on Sunday, is not good.
Violence can never stop the people's sentiments, he cautioned.
"The people are well aware of how capable Henry is.
The High Court of Manipur had already declared its judgment over Henry's submission of fraudulent certificates along with the election affidavit.
Hundreds of lawyers could come forward to help Henry's case but couldn't win.
Even the Supreme Court had dismissed his (Henry) appeal on November 17," Erabot pointed out.
He then said: "Taking the above into context, it is not right to appoint such a man without any standards as an advisor to the CM.
An advisor should either be an intellectual or a highly specialized person.
However, appointing Henry as advisor to CM would not only demean the prestige of the government but also taint its reputation.
Additionally, it affects the interests of denizens of Wangkhei AC.
This is not about politics, but the general welfare of the people " .
