Training on leather goods making begins

Thoubal, November 21 2021:
Under the sponsorship of Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), Noida of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry; North East Women Entrepreneurs' Association, Manipur Chapter inaugurated a month-long training programme on Leather Goods Making at Thoubal Leishangthem Wangmataba in Thoubal district on Sunday.
The inaugural function was attended by FDDI's Samuel Chakraborty, North East Women Entrepreneurs' Association, Manipur Chapter president Kangabam Bijaya Chanu; Bir Tikendrajit University director and RSS Sangathan North East co-in-charge L Suresh; social entrepreneur Oinam Goldflag , KVIC director Ahamed Shah Shamsuddiri Dewan and HeeYai Construction MD Thangjam Lokas as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Samuel Chakraborty informed that FDDI has been conducting courses ranging from 1-4 years with the aim of curbing the unemployment rate.
The youth who have undergone the training have been able to get placements in big companies and their products are well known the world over.
The leather making training programme is being organised for the second time and trainees will learn, how to make leather products such as shoes, bags, etc.
Assistance will be provided to those who want to set up a website to market their products, aside from getting placements in big companies.
He then appealed to all the youth to become self-employed and help in improving the economy of the state.
Meanwhile, Bijaya Chanu informed that similar training programme will also be carried out in other districts of the state.
Trainees who complete the training could either apply for a grant to set up their own business or join a big company.
The trainees will also receive a stipend for attending the training programme, she added.

50 trainees are taking part in the programme.
