Shija conducts first live laparoscopic surgery workshop

A one day Live streaming of Laparoscopic surgeries over the internet was held at Shija Hospitals on November 18, 2021 with a viewership of 574.During the live operative workshop, Dr Jugindra Sorokhaibam, Consultant Laparoscopic & Endoscopic Surgeon, Shija Hospitals demonstrated safe Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy on a patient with empyema of gall bladder, a severe form of acute cholecystitis or inflammation of the gall bladder, said a release.
Dr Devendra Khwairakpam, Consultant Laparoscopic & Endoscopic Surgeon, Shija Hospitals performed a difficult Laparoscopic CBD exploration (LCBDE) for large CBD stone on a previously Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy done patient with severe adhesions.

In both cases, Indocyanine green (ICG) dye which is typically injected preoperatively for biliary procedures was demonstrated using the 1688 Stryker 4K system that provides advanced 4K ultra-high-definition surgical video images.
The program was moderated by Dr Tamonas Chaudhuri, Professor of Surgery, Burdwan Medical College, West Bengal, Consultant-ILS Hospitals, Kolkata and former president of Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India.
