Imphal, November 21 2021:
The Punjab affiliates of AIFUCTO have taken the bold decision to court arrest in front of chief minister's residence in protest against the Punjab government's inordinate delay in implementing the 7th Revised UGC scale of pay, AIFUCTO said in a press release issued on Sunday.
In the meantime, AIFUCTO appealed to all affiliates across the country to wear black badges to show solidarity with the Punjab teachers and make the government of Punjab realise the urgency and gravity of the situation and implement the Revised UGC scale of pay in that state.
"This will facilitate the implementation of 7th Revised UGC scale of pay also in the states of Himachal Pradesh and union-territory of Chandigarh," it added.
Also in its release, AIFUCTO congratulated the farmers "for their sustained peaceful agitation which forced the Government of India under Narendra Modi's leadership to unilaterally withdraw the anti-peasant farm laws" .
"AIFUCTO also salutes all peasants who have become martyrs to a great cause," the organisation added.
"AIFUCTO's struggle against exclusionary National Education Policy 2020 and withdrawal of Draconian Labour laws will continue with much vigour and determination.
AIFUCTO's 31st statutory conference scheduled to be held on January 7 to 9, 2022 will take stock of the situation and will be vanguard for united struggle of all forces against shameless aggressive anti-people policy of privatization which will be a serious threat to our unity and independence of our great nation," concluded the release signed by Prof Arun Kumar, general secretary AIFUCTO.
