SBM holds first State Conference

Sahakar Bharathi Manipur (SBM) conducted its first State Conference on the theme of "The Role of Cooperative Society as Business Enterprise, The Role of Cooperative Societies in Rebuilding Economy and Contribution in Turning India into Rs 5 Trillion Economy", at Kha Potshangbam Maning Leikai in Bishnupur district on Saturday.
The conference was attended by Sahakar Bharathi All India general secretary Dr Udhay Joshi as chief guest; National organising secretary Sanjay Pochpor as president and District Cooperative Officer Bishnupur managing director Newton Khuman as guest of honour.
In his speech, Dr Udhay Joshi recalled that the cooperative movement began over 50 years ago.
Sahakar Bharathi, since its inception in 1904, has been working in 800 districts across 24 states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, etc, with the aim of improving the economy through cooperative movement.
Stating that all the citizens of Manipur could become cooperative members, Dr Joshi observed that the cooperative movement would prosper further if it is carried out as per the rules.
