Piyush Goyal vows to amplify State's growth trajectory

Imphal, November 21 2021:
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, Piyush Goyal has on Saturday assured to amplify the growth trajectory of the State.
In an interaction with representatives of different associations of industry, trade and commerce in the State at Imphal, the Union Minister said that the growth of India will always remain partial unless Manipur is taken on board.
The Union Minister also said that infrastructural development projects have been initiated in the North Eastern States to promote industry and trade and commerce in the region.
Saying that collaboration and competition are essential to further the growth of industry, trade and commerce in the region, he urged the industrial bodies to undertake cooperative ventures and start-ups to promote industrial and commercial trade in the region.
The Union Minister also assured that his Ministry will make every possible effort to ensure Manipur takes full advantage of the free trade agreement with neighbouring countries such as Myanmar.
Works Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh, Secretary of Ministry of Textiles Upendra Prasad Singh, Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar and senior officials of the Commerce and Industries Department also attended the interaction session.
During the interaction, representatives of industrial unions - Manipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Indo-Myanmar Border Traders' Union, All Manipur Entrepreneurs' Association, Business Excellence Group, Manipur Power Loom Development Association, Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Entrepreneurs Artisan Development Society and Organization for Development of Economic and Self Help drew the attention of the Minister with a brief presentation to promote industrial and commercial trade in Manipur.
They also urged the Union Minister to introduce transit duty system, reduce visa fees, open trade related offices such as DGFT, FIEO, EXIM BANK, RBI FOREX cells at Imphal, develop multi modal logistics park, provide subsidy on transportation and open cold storage facility and custom office at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport.
