VDF caught smuggling contraband items inside jail campus

A Village Defence Force (VDF) personnel has been arrested and handed over to the police by jail authorities after he was found smuggling contraband items inside the Manipur Central Jail (Sajiwa), according to the police.
The arrested VDF personnel has been identified as one Pukhrambam Shyamchand Singh (31) son of (L) P.Iboyaima Singh of Ngachou village, Bishnupur district, who is attached at Manipur Central Jail (Sajiwa), the police added.
The VDF personnel was caught with the contraband items while a body frisking was conducted by the warden of the jail, H.Rockson, duty in-charge of main gate no.2 and 3 today around 7:30 am.
During the search exercise, the warden found some contraband khaini packets in two polyethene packets (about 2 khaini koutas) from Shyamchand's possession which showed his motive of trying to smuggle the items to the inmates of the jail.
Regarding the incident, the new jail superintendent of police, Goulianmang told that anyone found violating the prison's rules and regulations would be dealt with strict punishments and that rewards would be given to those who help them in apprehending persons indulging in smuggling inside the jail campus.
