Imphal, May 09 2021:
Like in other parts of the world, Mother's Day was celebrated on Sunday at Sita village church in a simple manner in view of the upsurge in Covid-19 cases in the state.
As chief guest of the celebration, Sita AR post commander Maj Pranav Pant distributed copies of Bible and edible items to the villagers.
He also urged villagers to fight the pandemic together by strictly adhering to the Covid-19 safety protocols of the government.
He also conveyed that objective of the participating in the Mother's Day event along with the locals is to showcase that the AR would continue to contribute towards welfare and wellbeing of the villagers and that AR respects all the religions.
International Mother's Day was also celebrated in Noney and Tamenglong districts, albeit in a low-key manner with the annual event held as a family get-together due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.
Presentation of simple gifts by the children to the parents and the latter blessing their wards were the highlight of the celebration.
