Loom, sewing machines distributed

Imphal, May 09 2021:
Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Corporation chairman S Achouba on Sunday distributed power looms, sewing machines and electric spinning wheels to 25 weavers/ beneficiaries in a simple function held at his Wangoi residence.
Speaking on the occasion, S Achouba informed that the items were distributed with the aim of providing a source of livelihood to financially unstable households amid this second wave of Covid-19 pandemic.
Explaining that the government had imposed the curfew for the safety of the people, the chairman admitted that people still need means of livelihood to feed their families and as such, the items were distributed to 25 deserving beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries could not earn money without stepping out of their homes.
Thus, the items have been provided to help to generate their own income.
He further informed that once the Covid-19 situation improves, subsidized threads will be provided to weavers.
Achouba then appealed to the people to strictly adhere to Government SOPs and follow all precautionary measures including wearing of face masks, frequent washing of hands, avoiding unnecessary gathering, etc.
