MU will be tourist hotspot: VC

Manipur University Vice Chancellor HNK Sarma on Friday said Manipur University will transform into the Tourist hotspot in the State.
He said this during the observance of Manipur University day cum World Environment day jointly organized by Manipur University Students Union (MUSU) and Manipur University NSS Cell held at the University Campus.
Sarma said the University authority has set up various eco friendly environment places within the University campus base on the indigenous flora and fauna.
The University authority has planted many fruit bearing trees in the University campus in last five-ten years.
Dean, School of Human & Environmental Sciences Professor N Deva and Dean School of Social Sciences Professor E Bijoykumar attended as President and Guests of Honour while Department of Chemistry, MU Professor Rajmuhon attended as Invited Speaker.
Professor Rajmuhon alleged that due awareness by the people many medicinal plants has been drained out by other developed Countries and states.
Even though Himalayan region is known for hotspot in the medicinal plants still the local people did not get the benefit.
He suggested to the people to identify such plants which can generate lots of income through.
He further alleged that due to lack of knowledge by the law makers and politicians environment has been degraded every day.
