Imphal, June 05 2015 :
Information Centre for Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM) on Friday appealed to the Southern Angami people of Nagaland to lift the ban imposed on Mao community saying this community alone should not be blamed for the massive public agitation over Dzkou boundary dispute.
"We condemn the decision of the Southern Angami people to prevent Mao people from entering the Nagaland territory," ICHAM president Nongthongbam Rajendra told journalists at Manipur Press Club.
He said the Manipur Government has to be blamed for the whole episode pertaining to the encroachment dispute and the subsequent instability caused to the neighbouring communities on the inter-State-boundary.
Pointing finger at the State Government over the Dzkou dispute, the ICHAM leader reiterated that timely government intervention could have prevented the issue.
Rajendra said Manipur has as many as 36 ethnic groups and that the ban on Mao community is akin to forbidding all the people of the State.
