Imphal, April 30 2014:
Reacting to the clarification of Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir, the All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) has dismissed it as lies and fabrication meant to serve his interest.
"The report of Minister Md Abdul Nasir's manhandling of his colleague and aide during the Sangai Festival was enough justification of his 'wickedness," said Micah Kamei, Information and Publicity secretary of ATSUM during a press meet at Nagaram today.
If the Minister wants to prove himself as a respectable representative, he should admit his misdeed and tender his resignation from his post on moral ground in a very decent manner, Micah demanded.
The Minister again revealed his 'wickedness' through the media by denying boldly his racial abuse against the ZEO Thoubal, Micah said while adding that the Minister's move has irked the people, the tribals in particular.
While stating that the people could not be fooled around easily by such acts of the Minister, Micah Kamei also said that it was unfortunate that the Minister has used some organisations to hush up the episode.
ATSUM also urged MSUM and AMMSO not to resort to act in a manner that can provoke disharmony among the communities.
Alleging ATSUM of accepting bribes from the ZEO and irrelevant relation of the issue with territorial integrity of the State and spitting venom would not help solve the problem, ATSUM said.
Micah further said that there is eye witness account of the racially offensive remarks made by the Minister.
