Imphal, April 30 2014:
Oinam Indira, who contested the recent Lok Sabha Polls to Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, today took a dig at Ibobi Government for allegedly wasting time in its efforts to solve the lingering water crisis in the State.
The Government should take proactive role to encourage rain water harvesting and develop water bodies to ward off water crisis in future, Indira said while speaking during the inaugural function of a new branch office of Revolution for Indigenous People with Sustainable Economy (RISE) at Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai in Imphal West district.
As an administrator, a record should be maintained before hand on the total population of the State and their daily requirement of drinking water in order to keep water in reserve at least for three months to contain the situation whenever a situation like the present acute scarcity of water arises in the State, Indira said, in a reference to the PHE Minister's reported claim that the problem of water scarcity would be resolved once the rain comes.
