Hundreds of Tamenglong Autonomous District Council Employees on Saturday staged a rally demanding three points for the Autonomous District Council Teachers' Association Tamenglong, ADCTAT.
They submitted a memorandum to O Ibobi Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur through Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong.
The rallies started from Tamenglong Autonomous District Council to Deputy Commissioner Office Tamenglong ending at Haipou Jaduannang Park.
A reliable source told this reporter that the DRDA Tamenglong have not given salaries for one year and one month adding that peons and other lower grade employees have faced untold miseries.
Some of the rally placard read like', 'money to feed my children', 'regular pay for quality education', 'no pay no work', 'respect human rights- respect teachers' rights', 'complete ADC Tml MGEL list', 'release 14% arrears'.
The memorandum to the Chief Minister demands payment of six months salaries (from March to August 2010), release of 14% D.A arrears and immediate completion of MGEL/NIC of District Council Employees list per sanctioned post.
The memo said that since the inception of the District Council employees had gone through various types of untold miseries, and the employees have been on cease work strike since 4 September 2010. Till date the government is yet to react.
The association threatened to intensify the agitation if the government fails to fulfil the demands.
