At least eight activists of different underground outfits were apprehended by the police in separate counter insurgency operations in the last three days.
Out of the eight activists, five were apprehended by the Imphal West police commandos.
Among them three are PREPAK activists while the rest two are KYKL, a statement of the Imphal West Senior SP, L Kailun said.
The three PREPAK cadres were identified as Thoudam Ingo aka Mamton (40) son of Th Mangi of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai, Khaidem Inaotomba (45) son of late Ingo of Khurai Konsam Leikai and self style "project nominee" Okram Tolen aka Ashok (31) son of late Ibotombi of Bashikhong Bazar.
The latter two were rounded up from their respective home in the follow up action to the nabbing of Ingo on Thursday (September 16) from Langol Housing complex.
The two KYKL cadres were also nabbed on the same day on Thursday, at about 2.40 pm, from near PCTC Oil Pump, Khoyathong.
They were identified as Thangjam Anil aka Thoithoi aka James (21) son of Th Sarat of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai and Chongtham Dev aka Devchandra aka Tombi (29) son of Ch Chourajti of Thambalkhong Mamang Leikai.
Imphal east police commandos also apprehended two activists of KCP (Lalumba) group on September 16 from Brahmapur Leikai.
They were identified as Khumanthem Abungbi aka Jameson (23) son of late Ibotombi of Bashikhong Mamang Leikai and Nameirakpam Somorjit (24) son of late N Tomba of same locality, another statement of the Imphal east SP, Th Radheshyam said.
They are hardcore members of the group and presently working under one Bogo alias Somorendro aka Naobi of KCP (Lalumba), the statement added.
One KYKL activists identified as Khumukcham Romesh (31) son of Kh Biramangol of Kakching Khunou Umathel Bazar was also nabbed by a combined team of Thoubal police commandos and troops of 21 Assam Rifles from Kakching Khunou area on September 15. One 9 mm pistol with magazine loaded with three live rounds recovered from his possession, a statement of the additional Thoubal SP, Jogeshchandra Haobijam stated.
