Thoubal, December 26 2021:
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the Atrocities Committed by Congress Workers of Heirok Ktndra convener Laishram Thamboi has expressed strong resentment that the present BJP-led government claims of improvement in law and order situation in the state but is unable to keep under control even two polling stations of Heirok assembly constituency.
Speaking to media persons in the presence of Heirok violence victims on Sunday, Thamboi said that the destruction caused to household properties and thrashing of innocent civilians in connection with the upcoming election by unknown persons attired in black dressed and face masked began in Heirok on October 28 .
These election relation violence occurred with polling stations No 34 and 39 being the epicentre but the government remained as muted spectator until the December 21 incident.
There had been many election-related violent incidents before December 21 and numerous complaints were lodged for registering FIR but none were registered.
While entire people of Heirok were saddened by the December 21 violent incident in which one Ningthoujam Rohit was killed, it was very unfortunate and condemnable that large number of Congress workers armed with dangerous tools attacked several houses and damaged vehicles in the aftermath of the December 21 incident.
At least 17 FIRs were registered on Saturday alone but no FIR was lodged for incidents occurred in the past.
Had the government registered FIR in past incidents, the present volatile situation in Heirok could have been averted, Thamboi said, adding that lawlessness in Heirok is the result of government's inaction in the past incidents.
Meanwhile, one Thokchom Pramod, a policeman, has strongly refuted the claim made by Heirok AC MLA Thokchom Radheshyam stating that six/seven Congress workers continue to menacingly loiter with arms and allegation of his involvement in the December 21 Heirok incident as unfounded.
Speaking to media persons at his Heirok Part-Ill Champrathong residence, Pramod urged the MLA not to repeat such baseless remarks aimed at misleading the people and maintained that there is no such conflict between them.
There have been several incidents including where some unidentified armed people tried to kill him while taking paan at a shop in Heirok Thokchom Leikai.
And the case is still in pending, he stated, while urging the MLA not to repeat such acts.
