Covid newly infects 70, claims 2 more

Even though the threat from Covid-19 pandemic seems to be diminishing gradually, the state on Tuesday reported two death cases and 70 new positive cases out of 2129 samples tested and registered a positivity rate of 3.29 per cent against Monday's 3.20 per cent.
The two fatalities took the cumulative tally to 1915.The victims were residents of Bishnupur and Kangpokpi districts and none of them had Covid vaccine.
Out of the 16 districts, nine reported Covid cases on Tuesday with Imphal West reporting highest cases at 34.In terms of infection, Chandel recorded highest single day positivity rate at 7.4 per cent while Thoubal district recorded lowest positivity rate at 0.9 per cent.
Jiribam, Kamjong, Kangpokpi, Noney, Pherzawl, Senapati and Tengnoupal districts did not report any new positive cases.
The active caseload came down to 873 on Tuesday out of which 101 (11.57 per cent) are in home isolation, 261 (29.90 per cent) in CCCs, and 236 (27.03 per cent) in hospitals while whereabouts of 275 patients (31.50 per cent) are not known.
Among the hospitalised patients, 66 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 42 are on oxygen support and 18 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS even though it has 118 patients.
On the other hand, there is one patient on oxygen support in one of the CCCs.
There is no updated information regarding bed availability but as of Monday evening, 659 beds including 113 ICU/HDU beds were available in different hospitals, 2915 beds in different Covid Care Centres and 433 beds (30ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 94,003 positive cases and 1541 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has recorded 2819 new cases and 60 fatalities out of which 504 new cases and 14 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, all the 70 new positive cases (34 male & 36 female) are from among the general population and their samples were detected at RIMS (1), JNIMS (5) and other testing centres (64).The positive cases are from Imphal East (20), Imphal West (34), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (5), Chandel (4), Churachandpur (2) and Tamenglong (1).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 81 persons were discharged from home isolation (11), RIMS (4), JNIMS (17) and CCCs (49).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,23,403 (general population - 1,19,078 and CAPF personnel - 4,325).Number of recovered cases is 1,20,615 (generalpopulation - 1,16,310 and CAPF personnel - 4,305) and number of active cases is 873 (general population - 858 and CAPF personnel - 15) .
The recovery rate is 97.74 per cent.
A total of 705 D-type and 89 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
As many as 15,381 vaccine doses were administered on Monday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated persons to 12,43,234 which included 6,62,144 fully vaccinated individuals.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (42,944), Imphal East (27,311), Thou bal (9431), Churachandpur (10,127), Kangpokpi (2776), Tamenglong (3273), Bishnupur (9142), Senapati (2225), Ukhrul (2929) .
Kakching (6392), Chandel (2326), Noney (1067), Tengnoupal (1054), Jiribam (1021), Kamiong (921) and Pherzawl (464).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (638), Imphal East (454), Thoubal (173), Churachandpur (160), Kangpokpi (61), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (190), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (39), Kakching (111), Chandel (37), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 39,769 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,476 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,37,736 tests per million population against the national average of 4,30,598 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.55 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2129 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 3.29 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 9.09 per cent.
