Imphal, March 13 2014 :
Goa Deputy Chief Minister Francis D'souza today addressed a mammoth election rally at Noney Public Ground in Tamenglong district to garner support for BJP's Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency candidate Prof Gangmumei Kamei.
The rally was organised by the State unit of BJP under the name "BJP Parliamentary Conference for II-Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency" in the run up to the 16th Lok Sabha polls.
The Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency will go for poll on April 9 .
Addressing the huge rally, D'souza took a dig at the O Ibobi led Congress Government at the State, alleging that the Manipur has decelerated in all fronts and called for a relook at the Government's alleged passive performance shown during its 13 years of ruling.
Flaying the Ibobi Government for its alleged misrule, he said that the shabby and bad condition of roads in the State has clearly indicated that there is no good governance here.
Saying that a government must always do well for its people, the Goa Deputy Chief Minister said the government that is indifferent towards its people must be absolutely dragged down from power.
Facilities like electricity, water, health centre, connectivity and education are all fragile here in the State, he said and pointed out that many students from the State are pursuing their academic career in other States of the country because of lack of facilities here.
D'souza said Goa is a tiny State having a population of only 14 lakh with two districts where the people live happily unlike Manipur where its people are sad because of the Congress Government.
He added that the BJP Government of Goa has provided laptops to a total of 14, 000 school and college students to help improve in study, apart from a benefit of Rs 1 lakh given to each married woman who has attained the age of 18, and another Rs 2,000 is given to every disabled person, senior citizen and unmarried individual every month as financial assistance.
The BJP leader further attacked the Ibobi Government and called it a Government which has completely engrossed in scandal, corruption and scam and then D'souza sought votes for Pro Gangmumei.
BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba said though India is an independent country, the people of Manipur are suffering a lot due to the feeble Government of the Congress which has allegedly failed to bring any development and welfare of the people.
The people have known enough and fed up of all the erstwhile MPs representing the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency as they did nothing for them, Chaoba accused while trying to woo voters in Noney.
The former MP also urged the gathering to give vote to Prof Gangmumei Kamei to get the new taste of his exclusive leadership quality.
Several workers of the State BJP also spoke at the election rally.
