Three-day training on traditional method of fish farming was inaugurated at Pengba Farm, Hiyangthang Sunday.
The training programme was organised by S Tomba and Sons IntegratedSemi-Intensive Fish Farming (Pengba Farm), Private Ltd in collaboration with Environment and Ecology Wing, Government of Manipur.
The programme was attended by Adhyaksha of Imphal West, S Subhaschandra, Director of Fisheries Department, Karam Saratkumar and Senior Scientist of ICAR, Dr S Basant as the chief guest, president and guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, S Subhaschandra said, traditional means of fish farming is necessary to disseminate among the fish farmers of the state in order to preserve indigenous fishes of the state.
He said, apart from giving training to fish farmers, essential steps should be taken up as a follow up measure for the farmers.
Proprietor S Tomba and Sons Integrated Semi-Intensive Fish Farming (Pengba Farm), Private Ltd and national awardee, S Surchandra was the resource person of the training programme.
L Ibohal, Inspector of Fisheries department, has also delivered speech on selection of site and designing of fish farm, etc.
Around 80 farmers have participated in the training programme.
