"Rational thinking and understanding are essential in Science"

Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar Singh while speaking as chief guest at the closing function of Science Meet 2018 today, said that developing rationale thinking and understanding are essential in learning science.
The closing event was held at the campus of National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Akampat, Imphal.
Deputy Chief Minister further said that to thinking, imagining, observing, analysing concepts and derivation are basic constituents of learning science while adding that Science denotes the understanding of concepts behind things happenings around us.
Joykumar Singh said, although modern education came late in the State, the people have been able to learn and understand science wherein many scientists from the State are already working around the globe.
This is a clear example of how scientific temperament can be adapted among us, he added.
Stating that human beings are much more superior to other creatures of God, Deputy Chief Minister said humans should use brain to think and take productive steps which are helpful to people at large.
He appealed all the people especially the young minds to develop thinking habits so that more innovative ideas can be developed.
Director of MASTEC, Th Surendranath Singh said, Science Meet has been organising to nurture the scientific temperament among students in the State annually since 1997.He said, a number of models developed by the students can be upgraded to invention category.
It is an encouraging step and therefore, MASTEC in association with various scientific organisations in the State has been working to nurture them.
Director of Science & Technology, E Ibocha Singh said, the department has been trying to open an innovation hub at Takyelpat in Imphal while stating that it will cater the needs of young minds to develop innovative ideas using facilities in the hub.
Deputy Chief Minister handed over Dr Ibeyaima Innovation Award to Dr R K Kishore Singh and State Science Communicator Award to N Shyamkishore Singh.
He also distributed awards to students who got positions in the Science Model Competitions and other competitions in the meet.
Altogether 60 Science Models were exhibited in the meet.
