Imphal, December 04 2014 :
Following the eviction of three residential houses at Lei Ingkhol for construction of official quarters for the Manipur High Court yesterday, the Lei Ingkhol Youth Development Organization has fervently appealed to the government to evict remaining houses from the area only after rehabilitating affected families at Lamlongei, Imphal East.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here today, Y Giridhon Meitei, president of the organization said that several residential families at Lei Ingkhol were affected by the land acquisition plan in the area for construction of Manipur High Court quarters, while reiterating that the government had already provided compensation to pattadars.

Maintaining that the government had also provided assurance to 110 families which do not possess land patta that they would be rehabilitated to Lamlongei after availing basis amenities in the area, he lamented that nothing sort of construction work for rehabilitation in the area has been taken up.
Instead of ensuring the assurance given earlier, a team of police accompanied by heavy machineries came in the area yesterday and dismantled three residential houses.
However, prompt intervention by residents of the area foiled the attempt of the team to completely evict families from the area, he pointed out.
He then appealed to the government to rehabilitate affected families at Lamlongei only after availing basis amenities like water, electricity in the area.
