Imphal, December 04 2014 :
Along with burning down of the banners which do not include Meitei script, Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillon Apunba Lup (MEELAL) today disposed off copies of three books which had 'alien' words by tearing them into pieces.
Speaking to reporters at their office, MEELAL president Tomba Mangang said that despite MEELAL's repeated requests, authors of these three books were found using 'alien' words in their books.
The books were Punshiba Soibam's 'Keinya', Bhorot Sanasam's 'Sahitya Neinarol Ahouba' and Khundongbam Gokulchandra's 'Manglan Khara Saktam Khara' .
MEELAL has banned publication, sale and keeping of these three books in the library, he added.
Urging the general public to inscribe the registration numbers of vehicles in Meetei script without disturbing the high security registration number plates from January 1, 2015, Tomba said that MEELAL would carry out a drive in this connection from next year.
He also cautioned that vehicle owners must be responsible for any eventuality if they do not inscribe the registration numbers in Meitei script.
Saying that statues of seven Maichous, donated by actor RK Kaiku would be unveiled at Maiba Khun, Tomba said that similar statues would be erected at Lamshang, Sekta and other places as well.
He added that as film director Bimol Phibou has failed to turn up on MEELAL's summon his film 'Court Marriage' has been banned.
