Imphal, June 03 2015 :
The cadres of Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA), a signatory to the suspension of operations had beaten up 13 villagers of three villages in Saikul for the "crime of supporting the BJP" in the recent ADC elections.
This was stated to reporters by the state unit president Th Chaoba who was obviously angry.
He added that there is no law and order in the state.
Chaoba and some BJP functionaries on Wednesday visited some hospitals where these injured villagers are recuperating.
All 13 persons have fractured bones, bruized and swollen muscles as a result of beatings with clubs and rifle stocks.
Chaoba said that since the KRA is a signatory to the soo they cannot indulge in such unlawful activities and what they did to the villagers was condemnable.
In a democracy a person should be free to vote for anyone of his or her choice.
These KRA men were the hirelings of the Congress and it is reprehensible.
Ashwinikumar, general secretary of the BJP who accompined Chaoba said that a full report is being sent to the union home minister.
The state government which is turning a deaf ear will be hearing from the union home ministry.
Till the filing of this report the KRA has not commented on the serious charge.
